Stronger Impact Fund is a Faith Based Non-Profit Organization that contributes to the promotion of economic and political progress in least developed African countries by providing concessional funding to young leaders, youth groups as well as technical assistance for capacity building.
We focus on two major areas; Youth Economic Empowerment & Political Representation
- YOUTH ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Sub Saharan Africa is witnessing a surge in approximately 25million young individuals entering the workforce every year, underscoring an urgent demand for enhanced employment opportunities. This region is expected to see two thirds of its population under the age of 35. Despite ongoing economic growth, the capacity of larger industries to absorb this growing youth demographic is limited, especially in marginalized rural areas where agriculture serves as the primary livelihood. This scenario exacerbates the challenge of unemployment and underemployment compounded by limited access to education, information and training.
While incubation plays a crucial role in equipping young entrepreneurs with the skills and support necessary for success, the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem encompassing infrastructure, conducive business environment, access to finance and other critical resources is equally vital to fully empower and sustain their ventures. These challenges underscore the critical need for targeted business incubation strategies that not only foster self-employment but also equip young entrepreneurs with essential skills, market orientation and access to resources needed to kick start and sustain their enterprises.
At Stronger Impact Fund, we support aspiring and early stage young entrepreneurs to either create new business or transform and grow existing businesses. These services encompass soft and hard skills training, connections to professional networks, support for business registration and business grants. In doing this, we ensure that support is contextualized, effective and timely.
- YOUTH POLITICAL REPRESENTATION
The continent’s youth are brimming with potential and energy that could be transformative if given the opportunity to lead. Providing them with platforms to showcase their abilities and assume leadership roles is not merely an act of fairness but a strategic imperative. Africa can enhance the quality of decision making through improved diversity, equity & inclusion by creating these opportunities. This shift will not only address the immediate need for more representative governance but also facilitate the gradual transformation of Africa’s predominantly ageing leadership to more accurately reflect the continent’s youthful demographic.
Central to this transformation is the importance of intergenerational collaboration, with each demographic bringing unique value to the decision making table. The exclusion of youths from decision making roles can have disastrous societal consequences, including upheavals, crime, disruptive national protests, widespread youth unemployment and terrorism. We believe that the participation of young people in decision making can drive policies that are more aligned with current global trends, spurring economic growth and development. In addition, strengthening democracy is a vital outcome of youth involvement in governance, as it can rejuvenate democratic processes, combatting apathy and disengagement among young voters hence encouraging a more active citizenry and a vibrant democratic culture.
For political systems to be representative, all parts of society must be included. When young people are disenfranchised or disengaged from political processes, a significant portion of population has little or no voice or influence in decisions that affect their own lives. Inclusive political participation is not only a fundamental political and democratic right but also crucial to building stable and peaceful societies and developing policies that respond to specific needs of younger generations.
The absence of youthful input in leadership not only threatens innovation but also allows corruption & inefficiency to thrive. Fresh ideas and perspectives are critical for societal progress, yet these are often lacking in governance structures dominated by older generations.
The resulting stagnation affects not only young people but society as a whole. This is why we foster environments that encourage young people to engage in leadership. This means providing financial support, leadership training and mentorship programs.
